ATA Carnet

The ATA carnet (Admission temporaire/Temporary Admission) is an international customs document which can be used – instead of the national customs documents usually required – for the temporary importation, exportation and transit of goods.

The ATA carnet exempts the holder from providing guarantees when crossing the border. It can be used for multiple border crossings and is valid for one year.

Used by more than 70 countries, this “passport for goods” makes temporary export possible, more particularly for trade samples, goods intended for tradeshows, professional equipment, cars or horses. In the canton of Vaud, the CVCI is appointed to issue it.

The simplest way of obtaining an ATA Carnet is to use the ataswiss online platform. You fill in your request on the Internet. The information is automatically passed on to the CVCI, which checks it and prints out the pages of the ATA Carnet. You can choose for the carnet to be sent to you by post or come and pick it up at the CVCI office.

Log onto the ataswiss website to ask for an ATA carnet or contact us to obtain additional information.
