In Switzerland, more than two-thirds of students start out with an apprenticeship at the end of compulsory school. Vocational education and training is highly valued and allows young people to learn a trade by combining classroom study with in-company work.
For companies, working with apprentices is part of the overall corporate social responsibility. It is seen as a strategy for building a talent pool, investing in the next generation of skilled workers and effectively tackle unemployment.
This event will be a unique occasion to learn more about the Swiss vocational system of apprenticeship and its many benefits for companies, with a focus on international organizations. The programme will include an introduction by Cesla Amarelle, State Councillor, Head of the Department of Education, Youth and Culture - Canton of Vaud, and testimonials from international companies BOBST, one of the world's leading supplier of equipment and services to packaging and label manufacturers, and Merck, active in the fields of healthcare, life sciences and high-performance materials.
