Reloc'coffee - Living tradition: Lausanne cathedral night watch
First recorded in 1405, the cathedral watchman is a quintessential Lausanne tradition. While he no longer serves any practical purpose, he remains absolutely integral to the charm of the old town. He continues to call out the hours from 10 p.m. to 2 a.m., every day of the year.
After climbing the 153 steps to the bell tower, the watchman will tell us more about his work and the tradition he keeps alive. We will be able to take a tour of his lodge, take in the breathtaking night panorama and accompany him while he tells the time.
Please note we will meet the watchman at 9:45pm sharp by the smaller red door opposite the Musée historique de Lausanne and won't be able to wait for latecomers.
