The third edition of the Vaud International Business Award was held on 7 December 2016 at IMD in Lausanne. The winners are: 

Category: "Foreign company"

Cla-Val

Specialized in automatic control valves, Cla-Val Europe manufactures products used in water distribution, fire protection, fuelling systems and industrial applications. Based in Romanel-sur-Lausanne, the company operates as the European headquarters of the US firm of the same name and exports 95% of its production. The entire Cla-Val group employs 550 people worldwide, of which 70 in the canton of Vaud. Its products are distributed in 75 countries.

Audemars Piguet

Founded in 1875 in Brassus, where it is still based, the company employs around 600 people in Vaud canton, out of a total workforce of 1,500. The family-owned business relies on tradition, experience and craftsmanship to produce complex mechanisms such as the Royal Oak, its best-known watch. The company now produces around 40,000 pieces a year and generated more than CHF 800 million in turnover in 2015.

Elite

Founded in 1895, Elite SA, in Aubonne, specialises in manufacturing beds and mattresses. Since 2006, its workforce has more than tripled and it now employs around 60 staff. Its turnover rose to almost CHF 11 million in 2015, a fivefold increase in ten years. The business continues to grow in a highly competitive market, particularly following the fall in the euro, thanks in part to an increase in its international exports.
